Jeepers! proudly presents a collaboration by two of the UK’s most prolific house DJ/producers, Jay Kay and Nick Hook.

Brighton-based DJ/producer Nick Hook has been making house music for yonks, with more than 180 tracks and remixes released on a long list of house music’s most legendary labels.

Yet it’s always been Nick’s ambition to produce a real studio album – one that isn’t just produced for DJs to play in clubs, but music with meaning and an emotional impact.

Nick set out on his album songwriting journey in January 2019 and Asylum Earth is finally complete. Filled with 11 tracks about life, love, lunacy and liberation, it spans various dance music genres, including trip hop, ambient, house, deep house, progressive house and breaks.

The songs are about subjects that are important in Nick’s life:

Forever Credence’ and ‘Utopia’ are about the struggle for a better society and a belief that another world is possible.

Asylum Earth’ and ‘Lunatics Reprise’ are about the madness of the people who are running our planet.

Ambient Intoxication’ and ‘Another Drug Another Planet’ are about enhanced perception and the nature of the human condition.

Democracy’ is an anthem to the empowerment of mass protest, while ‘Outsiders’ was written on the night of the 2019 general election and is about the agony of always being on the losing side.

A Night Filled With Stars’ and ‘My Mindy Lou’ are unashamed love songs, one celebrating devotion to a life partner and the other immortalising the love between a man and his Chihuahua.

Somewhere Sometime’ is a reflection on the never-ending struggle for artistic achievement.

As well as writing and producing all the tracks, Nick supplies his unique vocal style on many of the songs. Guest vocalist Nina Carina adds her distinctive lead vocals on ‘Outsiders’ and ‘Utopia’. And Carol Neen adds her awesome voice to ‘Forever Credence’.

In a world that needs liberating from the lunatics that have taken charge, Asylum Earth is a dance music album with deep meaning and a message of hope.
